Wigs Covered by Insurance: How to Claim Your Benefits

How It Works

  1. Get a Prescription

Ask your doctor for a prescription for a “Cranial Prosthesis” that includes your medical diagnosis.
  2. Check with Your Insurance

Call your health insurance provider and ask what they reimburse for a Cranial Prosthesis.

Helpful billing codes: S8095 and A9282

  3. Take Photos

Take a picture of yourself without your wig/topper. This helps show that your claim is for medical, not cosmetic, reasons.
  4. Submit Your Claim

Send your prescription, photos, and your Dimples receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement.
