What Is a Glueless Wig?
A glueless wig is a type of wig that doesn’t require adhesives, tapes, or glue to stay in place.
Instead, it may use adjustable straps, combs, or an elastic band to get that snug, secure fit. Or, like all Dimples wigs, it may feature a hand-tied cap with silicone strips that prevents the wig from slipping or shifting — no adhesive products or damaging tapes needed!
If you’re not a fan of wig glue, this will be music to your ears — and your hairline. It’s perfect for those who want convenience and comfort, or for anyone not comfortable using glue by themselves at home. Plus, it’s good for both everyday wear and special occasions!

How to Put on a Glueless Wig in 5 Steps
Here are all the materials you need for a flawless glueless wig install:

Hairbrush
Wide-tooth comb
Rat-tail comb
Mirror
Styling tools (e.g. hair straighteners or curlers)
And here are the steps to easily install your glueless wig:
1. Prepare Your Hair or Scalp
Start with clean and dry, natural hair. Whether you braid it down, slick it back, or twist it into a bun, the goal is to create a flat surface for your wig.
Alternatively, if you have no hair, make sure your skin is smooth and hydrated.
2. Prepare the Wig
Comb your glueless wig from tips to roots to remove any knots or tangles before applying it. If you’re using a Dimples wig, no further prep is needed.
However, if your glueless lace front wig doesn’t have pre-cut lace (all Dimples’ ones do FYI), simply trim the excess lace carefully along your natural hairline. Don’t rush, precision is key here! You don’t want to get too close to the hairline.
3. Put the Wig on
Now for the fun part! You first need to identify the front and back of the wig (hint: there’s usually a label or tag at the nape of the neck to indicate the back of the wig!).
Then, hold the wig by the nape with both hands, making sure that the front of the wig is facing you. Tilt your head slightly forward and place the front of the wig above your eyebrows. Gently slide the wig over your head from front to back, being careful not to pull or tug on the wig.
4. Adjust the Wig
And for the final touches! Make sure the ear tabs line up with your ears and that the wig feels snug — not too tight or too loose. The front lace should sit at your natural hairline so it blends seamlessly with your skin for a natural look.
Be extra careful with this step! When putting on a glueless lace front wig, never ever pull the lace to adjust the cap into position. It’s extremely delicate and needs a soft touch.
5. Make it Your Own
For the perfect finish, be sure to tuck in any loose hairs or wisps that may be showing. Now it’s time to style. Use a curling iron, straightener, or your fave accessories to make the wig uniquely yours. Et voila! You’re looking fab-u-lous.

Absolutely! When properly installed, glueless wigs stay put, even on busy days. All Dimples wigs feature a hand-tied cap with silicone strips that create a suction effect, preventing the wig from slipping or shifting on your head.
Can You Glue a Glueless Wig?
Yes! If you’re a glue girly who just wants that extra level of security, you can use glue. However, glueless wigs are designed to stay on without glue or adhesive, so it’s not necessary!
Getting glue in your hair can be a bit of a sticky situation, so be sure to read up on how to get extension glue out of your hair. We want to make sure your hair and scalp are as healthy as they can be.
How Do You Cut Lace on a Glueless Wig?
Did you know that all our glueless wigs come with pre-cut lace? They’re perfect for an easy application!
However, if you’ve purchased a wig from elsewhere that isn’t precut, simply cut the lace carefully along your natural hairline using sharp scissors. Take your time, you’ll want it to be precise to look as natural as possible.
And remember, you can always cut more away, but you can’t put the lace back! So, don’t get too scissor-happy.
